2020 Bushfire Support

Supporting our students

The Swinburne community is saddened by the devastation caused by bushfires across Australia.

Below are some of the support services and key information you may need, as well as details of how Swinburne is supporting the bushfire effort.

Support services

All students have access to counselling and psychological services, including our out-of-hours crisis line (1300 854 144).

The chaplaincy and multi-faith prayer rooms are also available.

If you are currently studying through Summer Term or OUA Study Period 4 (2019) you are encouraged to contact your unit convenor with any questions or concerns about managing assessments or attendance.

Air quality

Smoke haze is affecting air quality across many parts of Australia.

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria has up-to-date information about air quality in your area and advice on how to protect yourself from the short-term effects of air pollution.

Donating to the relief effort

Our partner Bendigo Bank has established a Bushfire Disaster Appeal to raise funds for fire-affected communities. You can also find out more by visiting the Community Bank at Swinburne, located in the ATC building at the Hawthorn campus.
